A.I.S.M. STUDENT

Before I came to A.I.S.M. I did not want to speak, because I knew my grammar and vocabulary were not good enough.

But now, after I studied at A.I.S.M., I'm enjoying speaking English!

Because people understand me now! Even though I still make grammatical mistakes sometimes, I can communicate with people. I almost feel bad when people don't understand what my friends are saying in English who have much better grammar and vocabulary, but people understand me. I secretly feel good about it, though…!

Before I came to A.I.S.M., I could not communicate at all.
So, even when some Canadian people spoke to me, I did not want to talk to them because I did not have confidence. But now, if someone speaks to me, I can have a conversation!
That's really true, and that's why I have a lot of Canadian friends now.

I want to recommend this program to my friends.
But when I say I use computers to study English at my school, my friends say "it sounds boring!" but I say "It's fun! ESL is more boring!"
Because when I was in ESL group classes, my teacher did not care about quiet Asian students, and kept talking to other students who could speak faster, and I felt uncomfortable and bored. I even fell asleep often.

I think we should study speaking first, because studying writing did not help me at all.
People tend to hear the person who cares how she sounds, people tend to struggle to hear the person who only cares about grammar.

Every section I finished was very helpful, vocabulary, pronunciation and even my listening skills has improved, and I learned all of them by speaking.
I listened and remembered, and tried to use them in my daily life, and I think I will not forget what I learned here.
Many people go to the library to study, sitting at the desks. I never go there but I studied by speaking.
It was a big change for me that I can now listen and understand what people say, and when I don't understand I can ask questions. Even on the phone, I could understand everything the other day, so, Thank you!
