mother and child system

You did not constantly ask your parents about rules and details on grammar...
you simply listened, watched, and repeated. Soon enough you were speaking language...This is nature's way!

SPEECH MUST ALWAYS COME FIRST... and here is why:

A.I.S.M. LOGO The Mother & Child System

We learn to speak roughly at the age of one year old by listening and watching the mouths of our parents. At the age of three to four years old many of us attend kindergarten, where we learn to express ourselves in speech and singing. It is not until we reach the age of five years old that we begin learning how to read and write... SPEECH COMES FIRST!

      baby and mother

A child naturally learns language by watching and listening to their parents' speech.
  • So, do you think that the way you have been learning English is natural?
  • Do you think that your current learning system is helping you to speak and listen better?
  • Do you think your TOEFL & TOEIC score will get better using your current English learning system?

A.I.S.M. LOGO WHEN YOU LEARN TO SPEAK FIRST...

  • You learn natural word order.
  • You learn natural pronunciation.
  • You learn vocabulary that can be used every day.
  • You learn to use sentences naturally - sentences that can be used all the time, every day, and in so many different ways.
  • Grammar is naturally included in conversation training.
  • You will learn to write from how you speak, using native speech patterns.
  • Learning how to listen becomes naturally easier.
  • Understanding native speech patterns becomes easier and your reading skills will improve. This will help you read and recognize even more native speech patterns.

A.I.S.M. LOGO WHY CLEAR SPEECH IMPROVES YOUR LISTENING?

Why does our speech program help the student to improve their listening skills?
That's simple: When a student pronounces a word, sentence, or phrase incorrectly, that information is sent to the brain incorrectly. This can mean the student's brain will be listening for the same, incorrect pronunciation as the student's incorrect speech. When a student learns to pronounce a word clearly, that information is also sent to the brain. In this case, the brain will wait to hear the correct, natural sounding word, phrase, or sentence - telling the student that they recognize the word.
For example if the student says incorrectly "I love that movie," the brain will remember that pronunciation. And when a native speaker says that same phrase, the chances are that that student will not understand because the brain is waiting to hear the incorrect pronunciation first. When a student says the word properly and clearly, with good pronunciation, it opens the brain and the ears to overhear - or subliminally recognize - the natural sounds of clear English speech.
This is why good pronunciation will always improve your listening skills.

A.I.S.M. LOGO Using the Mother & Child System as an Adult

  • Do you know any native English speakers who would let you stare at their mouth for a long period of time, teaching you the correct pronunciation of every word and sentence until you completely understand how to do it yourself?
  • Can you afford to spend years learning the English language like a native English speaking child?
... The answer is, "NO".

When studying with M.E.L.T.S., students naturally learn using the Mother & Child System. Combining this with the rest of AISM's language learning technologies and resources, students learn to speak natural English in a short period of time - results come fast!

When children learn their first words, they copy and repeat the sounds and movements of their parents' mouths to say words correctly. However, when adults are studying grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing from a textbook, it is impossible to make the physical connections required to build natural speech. Throughout the M.E.L.T.S. system, students are constantly using their ears, eyes, and mouth to fully "experience" natural speaking. This physical connection allows students to understand how native English speakers produce their sound, and how it actually feels in their own body when reproducing these sounds correctly. This constant sensory participation naturally increases students' speech awareness and results in better pronunciation, better listening skills, increased vocabulary, improved grammar and better understanding skills.
Once students watch, and understand the concept of how to physically reproduce natural English sounds, they might find that some sounds are still very difficult to say clearly. This is because every language utilizes the tongue and mouth muscles differently and it is quite possible that your native language has not "trained" your tongue and mouth muscles in a way to effectively speak english. Muscle training is vital when learning to speak clear English as repetition will "re-build" your mouth muscles! Just like a child trying to copy and repeat what their parents say, it's imperative for adults to do the same - repetition is key!

Our instructors are always available to show students important study tips and monitor student progress.Instructor helping student

Using the Mother & Child System and M.E.L.T.S., students study simply by listening, watching and repeating the video-instructor, whose English speech is perfectly clear and correct. You can completely trust the video-instructor's speech, just like a child trusts their parents. And A.I.S.M. Instructors are always there for you to support students individually, regularly checking on your progress, and answering your questions at any time!
"I feel uncomfortable staring at a real teacher's mouth... because it's video I could really watch the mouth and learn the proper mouth shapes." Student's Comment

Using our extensive library of the Speech Training videos, you are able to repeat as many times as you wish, until you really understand and master the mouth shapes that you need to make clear pronunciation.
